Q+A Week

Matt has resumed his hill sprints

Jon broke his back when he was 22. And broke his chest 3 years ago in an Uber crash. He recently got an alignment on his back which has helped him to begin to regain his mobility.

We’re supposed to stand with our torso over our pelvis.

  • Greg and Vickie Johnson wrote the book on posture.

As a new practice, Jon is leaving his glass of water in the kitchen so that he will be forced to take a break when he goes to drink his water, which he does constantly.

Jon believes Huberman’s practices surrounding neuroplasticity are beginning to influence him positively.

————

Long talk about synesthetic sensations and color. Jon wants to come up with a vocabulary where colors can be used to concretely describe sonic qualities.

Thoughts On Recording Programs/Schools:

Jon thinks there is value in the community and like-minded individuals you can meet at these places.

Jon wants assistants that are a blank slate who he can educate. People who aren’t coming in with their own preconceptions of how things should be done.

Can you learn knowledge in a classroom setting that applies to making records today?

Schools can teach you structure.

Parents need a push sometimes too. A school legitimizes you in their eyes and that you are on track.

People who are going to be successful making records are going to do so with or without having gone through a recording program.

  • What allows you to have a career is the relentless desire to do it.

  • The people you’re going to compete against are going to do it whether somebody’s telling them to do it or not.

Jon:
Talent is a innate. There are very few people who have natural-born talent. It’s about practicing something.
